Sibal told the reporters in New Delhi that his aim was that insulting material never gets uploaded. "We will evolve guidelines and mechanisms to deal with the issue," Sibal said.
Saying that the government supported free speech and was against censorship, he added that some material on the Internet was so offensive that no one would find it acceptable. "Three months back we saw that Google, Yahoo!, Facebook had images which could be an insult to Indians, especially religious-minded people," Sibal added. Facebook is reported to have said that they would continue to engage the Indian authorities as they debate this important issue.
